Paul Sandwell - Associate Partner, Mathematics, Geophysics, and Programming

1970s
Paul started his career in geophysics, working for Seismograph Service Limited (UK) on a seismic crew and then managing seismic data processing centers in Oman and Bolivia. That work led to his interest in geophysical computer programming, which led to his assignment to Seismograph Service Corporation (SSC) at their Tulsa, Oklahoma, headquarters.

1980s
Continuing with SSC as a senior staff developer, Paul worked with many different aspects of oil exploration computer science, from seismic processing to mapping and fractal analysis of geologic data. In 1985 he was hired by Union Pacific Resources Company to design and manage the building of their exploration mapping system, which is still in use today.

1990s
After a short stint with Schlumberger's Austin Research Center working with their Geoframe system, Paul worked for five years with Sabre on their database systems, and as a Unix system administrator. In 1999 he moved to Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) as a system administrator and applications developer, specializing in real-time processes that monitor their telecommunications services.

2000s
Paul left BNSF in 2004 to form Energy Frontiers Computing, LLC, with Dee Jenkins and developed the horizontal well steering software (HNAV) that is now available through Energy Frontiers Partners, LP.
